HID Driver for Viliv S5

This is a really good news for Viliv S5 owners. Those that installed Windows 7 in these devices probably were disappointed when they found that there was not full HID support for the Viliv S5 touch screen. Well, Hugo Ortega has released this driver at his blog. Bravo Hugo!

I am extremely excited to share with you that Viliv has one of the most exciting updates a Tablet enthusiast can imagine, i.e. a HID (human Interface Device) Driver for their S5. With the driver the unit gets a dose of steroids allowing it to function properly with stylus and much more! Without the HID Driver the unit clumsily calls-up the TIP (Tablet Input Panel), stumbles through calibration and suffers as a Tablet PC when compared to post-upgrade!

2GB DDR2 MicroDimm RAM -Fujitsu Lifebook P1610/P1620 -Part II

I was reporting few days ago about an eBay seller that is offering 2 Gb of memory for Fujitsu P1610/20 at $129, that's 70% less than the price at Fujitsu’s Website. I ordered one and I received it Today. It's working! My P1610 is now more responsive and I see a lot less HDD activity going on.

Summarizing: A recommended eBay Seller and a recommended upgrade for all P1610/20 owners.

Viliv S10 Blade

Dynamism is about to release this device, one of the first devices being released with an Atom clocked at 2.0 GHz.  The combination of that speed and the 64 Gb SSD should make of this device one of the fastest one in its category (Small Tablet PC)in the market. This makes it very appealing to me.

In the following picture I highlighted what I like and what I would liked to see in this device. The battery life seems tome high.

The viliv S10, weighing a mere 2.67 lb (1.21kg), is an unparalleled tool for mobile productivity, featuring integrated 3G (optional), and a swivel, multi-touch screen. It runs Windows 7 seamlessly, with its Intel Atom 1.6GHz (2.0GHz max) CPU and solid-state hard drive. And, let’s face it: design matters and the S10 has sleek, enviable industrial design worthy of its capabilities.

2GB DDR2 MicroDimm Memory Fujitsu Lifebook P1610/P1620

I just found this really good deal in eBay. The memory upgrade that I needed for my P1610. What's good about this deal, well, the price. So far the memory for the P1610/20 can only be bought from Fujitsu at a price of more than $400. This one is for $129 including shipping. According to some comments I found in a forum, it's confirmed, it works in the P1610/20.

I just placed my order.

Samsung's SNE-60K e-reader

There are few companies that know how to combine a good design, functionality and innovation and one of them is Samsung. The SNE-60k is an example of that. For the first time we will see handwriting recognition in a device that's not using a Microsoft's OS.

Well, here's one e-reader that won't have too much trouble standing out from the pack -- not only does Samsung's SNE-60K boast a 6-inch touchscreen with support for handwriting recognition, but it has a fairly unique slider design that hides some of the additional controls (no QWERTY keypad on this one, though).

AT&T… the fastest 3G network?

I'm an ex AT&T customer. I paid 400 dollars in cancellation fees to cancel my two cell phone accounts with them after multiple problems without any solutions. After that I cancelled my DSL and my land phone line. Now I'm a happy camper T-Mobile customer, owner of a G1 and tired of listening AT&T saying that they have the faster 3G network. Here is a picture that shows the 3G speed on my phone with 3 bars out of 4 versus an iPhone with all 4 bars.

GoodSync

When you own more than one mobile device synchronization and backups become a huge concern. GoodSync from Roboform could be a must have in these cases. It's a tool easy too use and very friendly and now includes synchronization with folders located in the web and even Windows Mobile Devices. In the following video I'll show how quick I prepared a task to keep a folder located in a memory stick with a folder in my TabletPC synchronized.

Linux founder owns a Nexus

I share something in common with Linus Torvalds, we own a phone but we don't use it as a phone. I personally end my month with 10 minutes in my voice account.

But I have to admit, the Nexus One is a winner. I wasn't enthusiastic about buying a phone on the internet sight unseen, but the day it was reported that it finally had the pinch-to-zoom thing enabled, I decided to take the plunge. I've wanted to have a GPS unit for my car anyway, and I thought that google navigation might finally make a phone useful.

The iPad is just a MID

About 3 years ago Microsoft released to the market a new category of Mobile devices: The UMPCs. About a year after Intel created another category for those devices with limited functionalities: Multimedia and Internet. And they called MID. A few days ago, Apple released a device with limited functionalities too: the iPad. A new concept? Far from the reality, here is a list of MID compiled by a friend that do the same thing than the iPad.

Apple, where is your innovations this time?
